everything #3
After a few months of not doing anything, The Museum of Everything got somewhat restless and went for a drink with its creative hero, the incredible aesthete and all-round party animal, Sir Peter Blake. A few rounds later and Exhibition #3 was born, a vast installation of self-taught art and ephemera collected by the legendary pop artist, plus the country’s first ever recreation of Walter Potter’s victorian marvel, The Museum of Curiosity. To accompany the show, which opened in October 2010, we contacted top-notch cultural commentator Jarvis Cocker to interview Sir Peter about his lifetime collection complulsion, as well as Damien Hirst, himself a sworn devotee of Sir Peter’s, to talk about the influence of Walter’s wide world of stuffery. They are in this lovely book, together with loads of unique images, printed on that overpriced Swedish stuff, published in-house and voted Best of 2010 by The Spectator. The book is a limited edition of only 1,500 and is the only true insight into the creative inspirations that have gone to form the oeuvre of this world-class artistic giant.
